Today we hear a lot about hygienising, disinfecting and sanitizing. They seem to be synonymous with ‘cleaning’ but there is a big difference. Let’s make it clear.

Hygienising

Hygienising is the equivalent of cleansing and its purpose is to make the environment hygienic, i.e. to clean it thoroughly by removing harmful substances. Hygienising products are simply detergents and have no proven disinfectant activity. This is why they do not carry a Ministry of Health authorisation on their label, but merely indicate the action they perform, for example eliminating germs and bacteria.
Marka offers many effective household sanitizing products, such as Cloroattivo Pavimenti, Clorospray Igienizzante for kitchens and surfaces in contact with food, Cloroattivo Bagno and WC Igienizzante for hygienising sanitary ware.

Disinfecting

Disinfection is a treatment that reduces the bioburden of rooms, surfaces, and materials and should be carried out by using disinfectant products authorised by the Ministry of Health (biocides or medical-surgical devices). These products must be labelled with a registration/authorisation number. Among the products for disinfecting rooms and surfaces at home, we recommend Marka Sanispray Disinfettante Superfici PMC with >70% alcohol, which guarantees rapid action against viruses, bacteria and fungi. For hand disinfection you can use Sanigel HG, a non-greasy and non-sticky gel. These products ensure thorough disinfection because they are medical-surgical devices.

Sanitizing

And then there is sanitization, which is a set of processes and operations for cleaning and/or disinfecting, including maintaining good air quality. To sanitize your home, a cleaning phase where you clean with water and detergent (cleansing) is mandatory, because it removes dirt and furthers the subsequent action of disinfectants.
For cleansing we recommend using Sgrassasporco Multiuso before moving on to a disinfection phase with Sanispray Disinfettante Superfici. Finally, remember to air out your rooms to improve environmental conditions.
